Summer Loving

I was reading one of my favorite blogs, Fieldguided and the writer was talking about summer goals. I love this idea- summer is such a special type of year, but goes so fast. Since we are now right in the beginning of summer (and I'm such a planner) I thought I would make my own list:

1. Eat some lobster and corn on the cob (I'm going to Maine this weekend and I made elote last night so this should be easy). Accompany with rose and Rolling Rock.
2. Donate some time. I want to be part of my community.
3. Ride my bike to work at least twice a week.
4. Learn more about how to use my camera.
5. Hike in the Flint Hills.
6. Float. I'm joining a gym, and the gym has an outdoor saltwater pool. And since it's part of a hotel, you can order sandwiches and drinks. Heaven.

That is all. Some fun summery goals to keep in mind for the next few months.

Things that make life worth living 6

There is a minuscule coffee shop in my neighborhood called YJ's Snack Bar. When I say minuscule I mean it- it's got a few tables and stools, and a couple more tables outside. They sell coffee, cigarettes, and have a dinner and lunch special every day. And the food is amazing. After the hardest yoga class (they heat the room to 80 degrees! How do people practice Bikram?), to come here and have fish wrapped in banana leaves for $8.50-- heaven.

Go west

An impromptu trip to Palm Springs, and an even impromptu-er trip to Los Angeles- I've visited my beloved California (my dad hopes I end up there- I do too), learned to ride a scooter (It wasn't much of a challenge, but still), gotten a tan, toured LA and saw old friends, and wandered in Joshua Tree- sweet vacation. Sweet celebration- we've moved, finished the house, started to make friends, and my new job begins tomorrow.

Manifest destiny!

On Scooter Buddies!

The Ace in Palm Springs is just like summer camp- you can even order s'mores to your patio
Bagels and lox on the patio= paradise, no?
This reminded me of an Anthropologie installation, except it was actually a ranch at Joshua Tree.
This reminded me of an Anthropologie display as well...

Gallery Wall update

A slightly toned- down gallery wall, in the "library". Compared to the last post on gallery walls, this one is much more muted, and that makes a lot of sense in this room.

Also, I ditched color coded books, and I have to say it's kind of a breath of fresh air.

More house pictures to follow...
